The rich colours and bold patterns of the tiles that inspired this design have been used for centuries in traditional Moorish architecture. The Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain was built for the last Muslim Emirs and the Nasrid Dynasty in the mid-1300s. In the 16th century, it was renovated and modified for King Charles V. As a result, European features mingle with some of the finest examples of Moorish architecture in world.
